Friday Five

1. You are looking at my department’s newest employee of the month! Yep. That’s me. The best part about it is getting a reserved parking spot. That’s a hot commodity here, people. HOT!

2. Seeing how today is Veteran’s Day, I need to pause and say a big thank you to the men and women that have served and currently serve in our military. Freedom is not free and I have each of you to thank for the freedom that I enjoy. Thank you!

3. We have some friends coming into town this weekend. Today the guys are all hanging out. I don’t know what they will end up doing. Us girls will be cooking a Thanksgiving feast to be enjoyed at dinner. Yummy! I am supplying the Green Bean Casserole (recipe to be shared later), Pumpkin Cake (also to be share later), and some other odds and ends.

4. Tomorrow the guys will be going to the Maryland vs Notre Dame football game. It’s a night game so they won’t be getting home until late. Very late.

5. And while the guys are doing manly football things, the girls will be going shopping! I really need to get cracking on my Christmas shopping.

Friday Five

1. Good news! The pick-up truck is back at home! Yep, the auto body place was able to fix it up. What. A. Relief. They did not replace the bumper, or else the truck would have been totaled. You have to really look to see the dents, so we are completely okay with that! Thank you, Lord.

2. OGRAK update: The basic supplies have been purchased, which means we are currently in Phase 3: Find cuteness. Woot! This phase may be completed this weekend. Are you as filled with anticipation as I am? WELL, ARE YOU? No? Oh. Ahem.

3. Football has started. Rusty may or may not be beside himself with joy. Also, just in case you wanted to know, I won in my fantasy league last week.

4. It feels like fall today - cool and crisp. I ♥ it. Thank you, my Canadian friends, for sending us a cold front! We had the windows open last night, and enjoyed the cool breeze flitting through the house. I adore the change in seasons. I'm looking forward to wearing cozy sweater and cute boots.

5. I can't think of anything else to say, so...have a great weekend!

It's Coming...

Two words: Fantasy Football.

This is Rusty's favorite thing in the world, well, besides me and God. And maybe food...he loves my cooking. And dessert.

Anyway, fantasy football is indeed one of his favorite things. I have no idea how many leagues he will join this year. Some here he has had as many as 15, and sometimes it's only 8.

Preparations have already begun, especially for the league where he is the Commissioner. This is serious stuff, folks. Serious. Stuff.

We have already set up the league and still need to order the draft kit, which consists of a draft board and player stickers. We will also need to create draft sheets for each team owner to use and print out player lists for Rusty and me. (Yes, I will have a team as well. I came in second last year after pretty much dominating the season. I was robbed.)

Then there is online mock drafting, draft strategies to prep, long phone calls between cousins to discuss player potential, sleepers to identify, and so much more.

And football season hasn't even started yet! When it does start, I become a football widow, with Rusty reading, watching, and cheering from the back room of our house. Good times.

Friday Five

1.  I accidentally missed Friday Five last week when I posted about Heart Walls. I didn’t even think about it being Friday when I scheduled that post. Whoopsiedoodle! I apologize for not Friday Fiving.

2.  I wore my favorite outfit yesterday. It makes me happy. I know several of you have asked for picture of it, but do you know how difficult it is to take a full length picture of yourself that actually turns out nice? Not. Easy.

3.  I’m trying to become a SharePoint guru. This document collaboration tool is being implemented in my department and I will be helping to manage the membership, structure, format, and content. Wait, are they trying to make me a computer geek? A couple of the bosses have commented on me picking things up quickly and joking about me becoming a software developer. Never thought I would hear my name and software developer in the same sentence. :D

4.  I ♥ Chick-fil-A. Seriously. Their spicy chicken nuggets rock my taste buds!

5.  The Super Bowl is just days away! Rusty and I will watch at home this year - just the two of us. ♥ I will be making several appetizers for the big game...meatballs, shrimp and cream cheese dip, and I guess I should find one healthy option. I guess. Go Packers! Who do you want to win?

Friday Five

I did not Friday Five last week. I know you were shocked and dismayed. I am sorry. I was vacationing and these things happen sometimes when one is vacationing. I shall try to make this week’s post extra awesome to make up for last week’s neglect.

1.  We went on a little vacation. Joy! Background: My BFF, L’s, family lives in IN and we go there at least once a year for Rusty to go to a Notre Dame football game with L’s uncle. Well, we out this last weekend so they guys could go to the Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans game. They had a great time - with Rusty wearing the only Titans jersey, much to his enjoyment and every else’s dismay.

2.  What did the girls do while the boys were at the game? I am so glad you asked. We went shopping. And then we shopped some more. And then did just a little more shopping. Some of my favorite purchases were an awesome sweater, wide black belt to go with the sweater, and small silver wristlet purse. This is my new favorite date night outfit when paired with my dark wash skinny jeans and awesome gray boots. Hotness!

3.  My BFF’s aunt got in the wrong van this weekend. It was hilarious! We were in two vehicles while shopping. Aunt M was riding in her niece A’s van. Those of us in the brand spankin’ new Saturn Vibe watched as M opened the side door to a van that did not belong to A. We started yelling though the windows, but she did not hear us. Then it looked like she was going to get in the van and sit down. We were laughing so hard we could do nothing other than watch in horror. She had actually realized that it was the wrong van and was looking for the close button like her van has. There was no button. So she walked away…with the van door wide open. Oh gracious, we were howling with laughter as we screamed, “Close the dooooooooor!” A second later we looked over to see the door closed. How did that happen when there was no one in the van?! We still do not know. ROTFL!

4.  My long awaited camera is on its merry way to me. I should have it in my impatient little hands on Monday. I am certain that there will be a lot of posts with pictures to come. You’re welcome.

5.  I suffered some serious vacation brain at work on Wednesday. Seriously. It was awful. I managed not to bite anyone’s head off, but I was sorely tempted. And then I had computer/email issues. So not cool. And THEN there was terrible traffic on the way to the gym. I did not want to work out, but I did. Work outs often improve my mood. It did not do that for me on Wednesday. Sigh.

******BONUS******
Because you waited so patiently…

6.  I weigh-in tomorrow. I have not been to weigh-in for three weeks. Yikes! I am sure that my weight will be up from three weeks ago, but down from last week. So, all in all I will call that a win. I made pretty good food choices this week and went to the gym twice. Win!

Friday Five

I saw an idea I really like on the awesome Gitzen Girl blog called Friday Five, where you simply list five things about your week. I love it! :D Want to join me?

1.  It rained the last few days. A lot. It rained so much people were making ark jokes. The storms were so bad we had tornado warnings. Not tornado watches, mind you, the really bad warnings that mean tornadic winds are churning. The loud speakers at work told us all to take cover. Yikes! Roads closed all over the region due to flooding. The winds were whipping the rain around, rendering umbrellas all but useless. I’ll say it again (because no other made up word quite describes it correctly)…it was cray cray.
2.  Rusty has blood pressure issues, but is otherwise very healthy! YES! That makes me one happy woman. :D
3.  I can not believe it is October already. Yowzers. The weather today is overcast and cool. Perfect sweater weather. Woot! I am ready for cozy fall clothes and boots. I love boots.
4.  Next weekend we are going to Elkhart, IN, to visit some friends. Rusty will go to his annual Notre Dame football game (go Irish!) and I will go shopping. Woooooot! I could use a few new articles of clothing since most of what I have been wearing is way too big. Awesome. I will be hunting for things to go with my awesome boots, such as, skinny jeans & pants, skirts, dresses, flowy tops, boyfriend cardigans, belts, a scarf or two, and textured nylons. I’m so excited to be getting a few new rockin' trendy things for a skinnier me!
5.  Rusty and I want to go to a cabin in WV sometime soon. We have identified a few weekends that might work, so I will start checking out accomodations this weekend. We really need a weekend getaway. Badly! We are looking forward to playing Wii, watching movies, snuggling, possibly a fire place, and generally relaxing it up.
