1. Next week we start 40 days of prayer and fasting. We are both giving up dessert and I am giving up caffeine. Yikes! No more diet Coke for me. I will allow myself decaf coffee only. I may or may not fall asleep face down on my keyboard the first few mornings. I also may or may not be a sugar & caffeine deprived mess starting next Wednesday. Aren’t you glad you don’t work with me?
2. I’m reading a book called Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst. It is both awesome and difficult to read the same time. It is awesome because Lysa shares a lot of truth on craving that I need to hear. But it is difficult because it is forcing me to confront why I crave (and eat) what I crave (and eat). I highly recommend it, but only if you are willing to do some hard soul searching.
Would you like a quote from the book? I thought you would! “God made us capable of craving so we’d have an unquenchable desire for more of Him, and Him alone.” Good stuff, right? Hard, but good.
Oh, you say you want one more quote? “Satan wants to do everything possible to replace our craving for God with something else.” What am I craving? *ouch*
3. Rusty’s birthday is coming up. I have to decide what I am going to make for his special birthday meal. Maybe steak. Rusty loves steak.
4. I think I will make Chinese for dinner tomorrow night. I am hoping to find some baby bok choy for a quick stir-fry (yum!). I think I shall also make soy sauce eggs or Chinese Pancakes, and Kung Pao Chicken. That sounds delish!

What!?!? You're giving up sugar!?!? Oy.
ReplyDeleteI love steak, too. :)
I still need to try my hand at Chinese pancakes...
Oh no, I'm not giving up SUGAR. Here's the differance. :) If I gave up sugar, I couldn't have syrup with pancakes. Or honey butter on bread. Since I am giving up DESSERT, I can have both of those things. :D
