Breathing Fire

I breathed fire last night.

Would you like to make like a dragon too? If so, follow the simple steps below.

1.  Head off to the grocery store for a few simple ingredients:  chicken, onion, 1 can stewed tomatoes, 1 can chipotle peppers, tostadas, sour cream.

2.  Cook chicken and shred. Meanwhile, thinly slice onion and puree stewed tomatoes with chipotle pepper…the entire can of chipotle peppers.

3.  Sauté onion in olive oil for 5 minutes. Dump tomato/chipotle mixture into skillet with no thought as to how spicy this could get and bring to boil. Add chicken and simmer until thickened.

4.  To serve, place small amount of chicken mixture on a tostada and top with sour cream. Do not worry…the sour cream will not dampen the heat of the chicken.

5.  Pray that you have found the hottest chipotle peppers ever put in a can, like I did. When smoke begins coming out of your ears, you are ready to breathe fire.

Holy. Cow. That was some HOT chicken!!! I have made this recipe several times before and never had the recipe turn out like that. Trust me, I will never again start with an entire can of chipotle peppers. Yowza!

  1. "Do not worry…the sour cream will not dampen the heat of the chicken." Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

So how much of the can were you *supposed* to add? You know, just in case one of us wants to try making an edible version of your recipe... ;o)

  2. Oh, it CALLS for a WHOLE can. And I've made it that way before with great success, however... BEWARE! DANGER! DANGER! DANGER!!!

Next time I'll start with a couple peppers and go from there.
