For Esther

Yes, Esther, this post is just for you! I am going to show you an easy gravy recipe. What are mashed 'taters without gravy, after all? Nothing. I'm glad we agree.

I use this gravy on meatloaf. Yum! Soooo good.

For pot roast, omit the BBQ sauce and tomato paste. Use 1 1/2 cups of the juice from the pot roast instead of canned broth. Boil for at least 5 minutes, or until desired thickness.

BBQ Gravy

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 (14.5 ounce) can beef broth
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Salt & pepper

Directions:

1.  Melt butter in small sauce pan over medium-high heat. Sprinkle flour over butter and whisk together. Cook for 1 minute. You cook it for a short while to make sure that your gravy will not have a floury taste.

Add flour when butter is almost melted.

Whisk butter and flour together.

2.  Slowly add beef broth to sauce pan, whisking as you pour to ensure there are no lumps. Bring to a boil.

3.  Add BBQ sauce, whisking to combine. Bring back to boil. Add tomato sauce, whisking again. Return to boil once more for 3-5 minutes, or until desired thickness.

4.  Season with S&P to taste. Serve.

Bon Appetit!
