Taiwanese Tuesday

Instead of a recipe this week, I have a restaurant suggestion for you.

If you are ever in Kansas City, go visit the Blue Koi - a Chinese noodles and dumplings shop owned by someone from Taiwan. The food is awesome and the ambiance is very cool. This would be a great date place!

There are two locations...1803 W 39th and 0581 Mission Rd.

My family has had a tradition of going to a Mongolian BBQ place around the corner from the Blue Koi for years now. Last year we tried this new restaurant and fell in love. Or at least I did. We have now added this to our list of must-do-things-while-Rusty-&-Rachel-visit. I love our newest tradition!

What we ate:

China Moon - Delicious crispy flat bread with shrimp. Served with sweet plum sauce.

Crispy Tofu with Spicy Awesome Sauce - These little things were great and the sauce was so flavorful (and not at all spicy).
Dumplings - We had boiled pork dumplings, fried pork dumplings, and boiled shrimp dumplings.

Chinese Style Pot Roast Noodle Soup - Seiously awesome stuff! The beef was super tender and the broth was amazing.

Cantonese Roast Duck Noodles - The duck meat was so tender. Great dish.

Ants on a Tree - Sauteed minced pork with bean thread noodles. One word. YUM!

Almond Shrimp Asparagus with white rice - Very good and a bit sweet.

Bubble Tea - Ice-cold tea lattes with or without tapioca pearls (bubbles).

Tim, Rusty, and I got Bubble Tea to go. Tim had Passion Fruit, Rusty had Mango, and I had the Original Green Tea. I think next time we will each get Passion Fruit without the bubbles.

Things to try next time (we were told these were the top sellers):
~ Shrimp, Chicken, or Tofu with Black Bean Sauce
~ Shrimp, Chicken, or Tofu with Chinese Curry Sauce
